Ogunquit is known as an art colony, and you’ll know it the minute you drive into
town. There are dozens of lovely art galleries lining Rte. 1 and the side streets
of Perkins Cove, and there is The Barn Gallery which features work by local artists,
and the Ogunquit Museum of American Art with an extensive permanent collection.
And there is theater - The Booth Theater and the famous Ogunquit Playhouse both

With three miles of beautiful sandy beach, what family wouldn’t have fun? Swimming,
running, kite flying. A simple Trolley ride around town and a stop for an ice cream
down town are the good times memories are made of. Or spend a day at York’s Wild
Kingdom, Maine’s largest amusement park. With exotic animals from around the world,
a variety of family rides, paddle boats, and an 18 hole miniature golf course, you
can’t help but enjoy yourselves.

There is the Ogunquit Heritage Museum/Winn House & Dorothea Grant Commons which
traces the early settlement of Ogunquit and the history of the art colony and the
Ogunquit Memorial Library built in 1897 as a memorial gift to the town, and listed
on the National Register of Historic Places, to name a couple. And you’ll want to
visit Perkins Cove, home of New England’s only draw footbridge.

Recreation enthusiasts love Ogunquit because the front yard is an ocean and the
backyard is the "Vacationland" known as Maine. You can try deep-sea fishing, cast
a rod into the river, even learn about trapping lobster with a licensed captain
or play a round of golf at some of New England's top rated courses. Sailing, sea
kayaking and whale watching are popular activities as well as hiking nearby Mount
Agamenticus or the Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm.
